The voices in my head drifted away as a ship that can no longer be seen once it crosses the horizon…

Mountain climbing was not new to me, what was new was that I had company this time. It didn’t seem like a bad idea at that time, now I only wish that I can turn the clock back and try to undo what happened.

The sky was blue and crystal clear, almost a perfect day for a perfect outing, or so it seemed.. Halfway through the climb it started raining cats and dogs, maybe elephants as well, why had god suddenly decided to unleash natures wrath on us ….

So there we were, lost souls stuck halfway on a mountain, in the rain. There was no way of climbing down as it was very slippery and risky. But me being me, and having done this one too many times, didn’t think twice before deciding that the best thing to do was to continue our climb up the mountains which for some reason seemed a better idea !!! So I took the lead. I had taken a few steps ahead when the rock I had supported my right foot on collapsed under my pressure. I swung my heavy body to the left, it all happened so suddenly, there was no way I could’ve slowed down the pace with which I was rolling down…..with my descent, everything around me began to fade out…including the voice that screamed out my name…

Carve a character of your choice. Instructions: People…the idea is to use the power of characterization to spice up even an otherwise mundane story.   

Here we present an ordinary story about a person. Now, nothing about this person is known. Try to come up with a character of the person.

To help you start out, here are some pointers. A character is made up of Mind, Body ,Soul.   

So now you have the tools to carve a character of your choice and place him/her in this story and see the story in a totally new light. (Word limit-100 words)  

Story: “The police caught the THIEF red-handed. The THIEF pleaded innocent. But lo! …they couldn’t even a word of what the THIEF said. Who cares though…the THIEF had the stolen jewllery in IT’s hands.So off they went, to the police station. The THIEF walked in silence with them. The by-standers did stare at the THIEF a lot, though. What was it that had bamboozled the by-standers but went unnoticed by the policemen, they never understood. The THIEF’s cell was full of a bunch of goons. The THIEF sat in quietly between them. The policemen locked the THIEF up and hurled colorful abuses. The THIEF never even blinked back at them as they walked away. The arrival of mid-night was accompanied by a lot of noise in the lock-up. The guards came in early morning to check. But the cell was empty…”  

(WHat do u think , ppl??….its a wierd story. But invites a large range of characters to fit in…The most complete and unique character will win )

 YT Contests – First Quarter
  

Yours Truly developed a style called CTS, complete the story, as a theatre format.  We have over the period of time done several plays in this style of theatre, where the story stops and the audience gets to end the story; and that story is enacted by the actors on the spot (impromptu)

In this section we would like our readers to be a part of a similar concept, but online.

Here goes the first CTS contest…..

“……..I was up earlier than normal days that day. I wonder what had made me go early there. There is freshness in the atmosphere and the cool breeze only increased the pleasantness. I am little happier for whatsoever reason. Oh! Here she comes, looking beautiful in that probably new dress. Is that a miracle ? I remember now that I had woken up after a dream and she was certainly in the dream. And something in my dream had made me come earlier today. Is it real?

“What is your plan for the weekend ? ” I ask.

We smile to each other. No one has come yet. She is comfortable at my presence. Did I really wake up or this is the continuation of dream? If it is a dream, then I wouldn’t want to ever wake up. We walk upstairs as if we realize what exactly we need to do. In the terrace, coffee is served and we sit opposite to each other. We sip hot coffee while the cool breeze brushes our faces.

I am afraid that she can hear my heartbeats. Today is the day. Now is the time. I have to say. It would be a foolish thing, but I have to do say it. I am not even sure whether my voice would reach across properly. Let me warm up………………”   …… Original Story Written by Ravi Kiran
